Dr. Robin Unger is an assistant clinical professor at Mt Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she teaches the next generation of dermatologists the art of hair transplant surgery. She is board certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and is a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery.
Dr. Robin Unger has been involved in hair transplant surgery for fifteen years, and has been exposed to hair transplantation almost her entire life. As the daughter of Dr. Walter Unger, she started visiting his offices at an early age and worked as a hair transplant technician in his practice for almost four years. During this time she perfected her art of graft preparation, graft placement, suture removal, and surgical assistance. In addition, before performing her first hair transplant, she assisted and observed thousands of surgeries. Most physicians trained in this procedure observe others performing the surgery for a period of a few weeks to a few months, they read some books on the topic, and then they begin operating on their own patients. The experience Dr. Robin Unger gained from her years of assisting Dr. Walter Unger, an icon in this field, places her in a very unique and advantageous position. They are now in practice together, along with Dr. Carlos Wesley, each with their own patients, but still benefiting from the continued exchange of ideas and shared staff. Dr. Unger's office was granted the stringent National Quality Approval certification by The Joint Commission in 2009 - providing patients with the confidence that we have all the necessary requirements to ensure quality and safety as an outpatient surgical center. The office was also granted LEED certification, as the first ever "green" private surgical office in Manhattan.
