Midscalp hair transplant surgery

Before midscalp hair transplant. One year later

A 33 year old man came to consult with Dr Unger about his thinning in the “crown”. He was completely resistant to using any medication – he doesn’t believe it is safe to take finasteride and the minoxidil had caused him to develop frequent and severe headaches. After being given the facts, it was clear this individual had made an informed decision. On exam it was evident that his area of greater concern was really the midscalp and only the anterior portion of the vertex. The donor yield was exceptionally large: 2565 FU (including more than 1000 containing 3-5 hairs) and 250 DFU. This enabled Dr. Unger to treat the current and future areas of loss in the posterior portion of the frontal region, the entire midscalp area, and irregularities into the vertex region – more than one third of the grafts went into areas of future loss. His results are shown after one year.
