Before hair transplant surgery and results
This 34 year old woman came for evaluation of her severe hair loss which started following the initiation of birth control pills. She was found to have low zinc and elevated androgens. She was started nutritional supplements, spirinolactone, and 5% rogaine and told to return for follow-up 6-9 months later. This time frame of treatment allows the hair to recover from the effluvium and provides a clearer indicator of her true situation. One year later, both the recipient and donor area had improved density, but she still was very thin in the frontal area. Her surgery of 1754 FU resulted in an excellent increase in density in the area of greatest cosmetic density and the medical treatment has helped slow future loss.
